Let’s Do Brunch: Ferrari-Carano Wine Pairings for Your Al-Fresco Weekend Brunch

Hear us out. Mimosas are a cult favorite for brunch, but most of the time, they aren’t the best
pairing for your brunch. Why not try out a few new Ferrari-Carano wine pairings and add a bit of sophistication to your Sunday brunch on the patio?

Brunch is perhaps the best meal of the week. No, correction: brunch is the best meal of the week. And if there is anything that our team at Ferrari-Carano knows how to do in knock-your-socks-off style (besides, obviously, making spectacular wines for spring, and every other season), it’s brunch, the Italian way. The translation to Italian is “La Colazione Italiana.” Don’t let us tell you, though. Experience our Sunday Wine & Brunch in the Sycamore Grove for yourself from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. every Sunday.

Bacon and Leek Brunch Pizza with Ferrari-Carano Fumé Blanc

Ferrari-Carano 2021 Fumé Blanc, Sonoma County

With all of the components of a superb breakfast sandwich – savory bread, crisp bacon, fresh eggs, and melted cheese – our Bacon & Leek Brunch Pizza steps in to elevate your alfresco brunch picnic. Pile on arugula, and raise the bar even higher with our Fumé Blanc, then drizzle your breakfast pizza with fruity, peppery California olive oil. Like orange juice with your breakfast sandwich, our ripe, fruit-forward Fumé Blanc (made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes) and brunch pizza make the perfect pairing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with various toppings and brunch like Ferrari-Carano.

Quiche Lorraine with Ferrari-Carano Tré Terre Chardonnay

Ferrari-Carano 2018 Tré Terre Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

On a late weekend morning, buttery, flaky pie crust filled with a delicate egg custard sets the tone for a relaxing day. Amp up your casual weekend breakfast and invite friends to join you on the back patio for a quiche lorraine paired with our Tré Terre Chardonnay. Despite being a dry wine, notes of Anjou pear, graham cracker, and Meyer lemon create an element of contrast to the savory and salty quiche. A medium body glides over your palate as the custard melts in your mouth, and well-balanced acidity ensures that the weight of the quiche doesn’t linger – ensuring that you still feel energized and ready to continue enjoying a day in the outdoors with friends.

Brioche French Toast and Cherries with Ferrari-Carano Trésor

Ferrari-Carano 2016 Trésor, Sonoma County

French toast? Are we allowed to reclaim it as Italian toast? Even if renaming is a losing battle, if you have a sweet tooth at brunch, then this pairing is what you need: thick-cut brioche saturated in sweet cream and baking spices, then fried in a puddle of hot butter paired with our Trésor, a Bordeaux-style blend with notes of cassis, pomegranate, and brown sugar. Yum.

For a decadent brunch perfect for feeding a crowd on the deck at the beach, top your hot French toast with a sweet black cherry sauce and sip on our Trésor in between forkfuls. Bonus points if you can get out a few comments about the wine’s subtle notes of cardamom while you enjoy this incredible pairing. Silky tannins pull layers of butter off  your tongue and dark cherry sauce perfectly complements the juicy, dark fruit notes of this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. Can you say weekend win?

If you’ve ever wanted to branch out from your usual weekend breakfast beverage, but weren’t quite sure how, consider this your invitation to pair Ferrari-Carano wine with your dinners, lunches, and now . . . your brunches! And if you still aren’t yet confident, take the trip out to Villa Fiore, where we welcome you with open arms for La Colazione Italiana. Brunch, Italian style.
